About

I am Elizabeth Fraser

I am an artist printmaker

Welcome to Frauhaus.  I make prints by hand. Its a slow process involving lots of thinking, proofing and tea drinking. I use mainly letterpress and linocut. I am often inspired by science and love collaborating with scientists. Works may be flat prints or more elaborate interactive artist book installations. I am also inspired by the invisible connections and structures that verbal and written language make in our lives. I enjoy playing with the material visualisation of language I explore its role in the communication of place, memory and time. I try to bring the essence of an optimistic outlook into all my work. I like colour and pattern and letters and numbers. I also really really like a nice cup of tea.

Originally trained as a teacher I have taught from primary through to higher education. I held various roles at Cambridge School Art—Anglia Ruskin University including Associate Lecturer in Undergraduate Graphic Design and Letterpress Technical Expert. I love helping people exercise their creative muscles, learn about grids and realise that to make great work takes a great idea and a lot of hard work and attention to detail.
